Skilled defense often leads to an opportunity to score points on offense. Having successfully defended multiple attacks, Jesus now goes on the offensive. He asks a question about the superiority of the Christ, He warns of the coming condemnation of those who seek to appear superior, and he commends a poor widow as an example of one who gives sacrificially. From this passage, there is application for us: Something for us to know, to believe, and to do.
