We have been waiting since chapter 12 for the promised son to be born to Abraham and Sarah. They've been waiting for 25 years. The Lord is a faithful, promise-keeping provider. We'll see that in today's passage. And when we move from the joy and laughter of the birth to the mocking laughter and banishment of the other son, we will have an opportunity to see the Lord as a gracious protector.
